Description

Eastern Box Turtle For Sale

Some of the most colorful box turtles are the Eastern Box Turtle For Sale. Box turtle babies all look the same, but as they grow up, they quickly start to look like their older counterparts. Some states don’t let people own native species of box turtles, so you may have to buy a box turtle that is not from your area. When looking at turtles or tortoises for sale, it’s important to do your research ahead of time about how to care for them.

Care

In general, caring for a box turtle involves building a habitat, keeping the right UVB lighting, humidity, temperature, food, and substrate. Here are a few ways to take care of your new eastern box turtle that was raised in captivity. When buying more than one box turtle, we recommend buying females because they can live together without fighting. It’s not a good idea to keep more than one male box turtle together, because when they grow up, they may fight.

Habitat

The home for a box turtle can be anything from an aquarium to a dry table or box kit. How you set it up depends on how old your box turtle is and what the temperature is like in the room or outside where you put it. Eastern box turtle for sale, Ornate box turtle for sale, Florida box turtle for sale, and 3 toed box turtle for sale all have the same set-up. Both Ornate and Florida box turtles like to spend more time in the sun. Other species, like the Eastern and 3 toed, like to stay in the shade and hide.

Diet

The box turtle eats both bugs and fruits and vegetables. Most box turtle babies eat red worms, wax worms, and small insects when they are young. As they get older, they will also slowly change to a diet that includes more fruits, vegetables, and greens. Box turtles, both adults and babies, eat mostly the same things.

At Exotic Pet Reptiles For Sale, we feed our young adults and juveniles red worms, meal worms in moderation, super worms, wax worms as a treat, and dubia roaches for insects. We give them apples, strawberries, blueberries, romaine, mazuri tortoise chow, squash, carrots, and zucchini as greens and vegetables. It’s also important to take a supplement like vionate and calcium with vitamin D3 two to three times a week. The same supplement powder mixture can also be used to dust insects.

Water

Always have clean, fresh water available for your new baby eastern box turtle for sale and adult eastern box turtle for sale. You should be able to use well water straight from the tap. If you are using city water, you should let it sit for about 48 hours so the chlorine can get out of the water. Additives can be put in water, but we don’t use them because we don’t think they should be in drinking water.

Humidity

Eastern box turtle should have humidity between 55 and 75%. Babies like air that has more moisture in it so they don’t dry out or lose water. Shells also need to be able to get to water and soak in shallow water every day. If you keep your baby box turtle too dry, the edges of its shell will start to curl up. This means the turtle is in a dry place, which is not good for it.

UVB Lighting

When raising a turtle, especially a box turtle, UVB lighting is always a good idea. Depending on the type of box turtle you buy, you may or may not need a lot of UVB light. Ornate box turtles for sale, which are also called “desert box turtles,” need more UVB than both Eastern box turtle and three-toed box turtles. We suggest a Reptisun 10.0 lamp and T5 high output tubes instead of spiral lamps. You shouldn’t use spiral or screw-in lamps because they don’t give off enough UVB and can be dangerous.

Hibernation

Your eastern box turtle don’t have to hibernate unless you want them to. Most box turtle species do hibernation on their own, but not all. People think that hibernation is also important for breeding groups because it helps males have more offspring. Most animals go into hibernation at the end of November and come out of it in March or early April.

Sexing Your Eastern Box Turtle

You can ask for a male or female turtle, or any combination of the two, when you order one of our medium-sized or adult-sized reptiles, but we can’t promise the sex. But we can promise that someone with a lot of experience with reptiles will try to pick out the turtle(s) you want.

Shipping Your Eastern Box Turtle

When you buy an Eastern Box turtle from us, we promise that it will arrive alive, no matter what. Before you order, please read the details of our guarantee. Please check the laws in your area before placing an order.

Because we sell reptiles, amphibians, tarantulas, and scorpions online in a responsible way, we reserve the right to delay your order if the weather is too bad. This happens very rarely. This is only done to keep the animal(s) safe, and if it does happen, you will be notified by email.

Why buy reptiles?

We offer exotic reptiles for sale online at absolute rock-bottom prices, which means we make these fascinating animals available to you affordably as pets, or even to start your own reptile breeding project. We are reptile enthusiasts who believe captive breeding is integral to the future of the market, as it not only helps protect wild herp populations, but is an incredibly rewarding experience that tends to intensify one's passion for these amazing prehistoric creatures. Whether you buy a snake, lizard, turtle, tortoise, or alligator, we are driven to provide the highest quality live reptiles for sale.

Why buy amphibians?

Amphibians are generally slower-moving, and have uniquely moist skin which means they are never far from a source of water. Their life cycle is nothing short of incredible: they hatch in water, spend weeks or months in metamorphosis, then become either terrestrial or remain primarily water bound. Some salamanders even breathe through their skin! Our live amphibians for sale online include frogs, toads, salamanders, and newts. Some are huge, some are small, and virtually all are amazing to observe in captivity. When you buy amphibians from us, you can rest assured they are fully guaranteed to arrive alive and in great condition. Why not start an amphibian breeding project today?

Why buy feeder insects?

Reptile and amphibian food should be varied, which is why we offer an array of feeder insects for sale. It's always far more cost effective to buy feeder insects in bulk, which often saves up to 70% off pet store prices. Plus, the feeders are delivered right to your doorstep. We offer live crickets for sale, as well as mealworms, wax worms, nightcrawlers, and now even lizards, all at the lowest possible prices. Our reptile and amphibian feeder insects and lizards include a guarantee of live arrival.
