Blue Tree Monitor For Sale
The blue-spotted tree monitor (Varanus macraei) or blue tree monitor is a species of monitor lizard unique to the Indonesian island of Batanta. Duncan R. MacRae, a herpetologist and the man responsible for Bali’s Rimba Reptile Park, is honored with this naming.
Appearance
For example, Varanus macraei belongs to the prasinus -group and the subgenus (Hapturosaurus). It lives in tropical and subtropical regions and is commonly described as being black with blue scales randomly distributed over its body, a pattern known as ocellations that can further divide into bands across its back. The nose is bright blue at the tip, the lower jaw is white, and the neck is covered in uniform green scales that form a v-shape.
The body has 8 or fewer dorsal crossbands, and the legs are extensively speckled with turquoise ocelli. The number of scale rows near the middle of the body ranges from 85 to 103. From the outside corner of the eye to the top of the ear, there is a single, clear row of blue scales. Its neck has a reticulated pattern of black specks on a pale background. The tail is prehensile and around 1.95 times the length of the snout-vent region, as is the case for all prasinus-group species. These species have 22-23 blue rings that are quite symmetrical (SVL).
The maximal size of a male blue-spotted monitor is greater than that of a female, and the sex difference is also apparent in the shape of the monitor’s hemipenis and its location relative to the cloaca. Blue-spotted monitors are the biggest members of the V. prasinus complex, with males reaching a maximum length of 3.5 ft (1.1 m) and females being around 4 in (10 cm) shorter than their male counterparts in adulthood. The species V. macraei is the best-known of these lizards.
Diet and Nutrition
Like with many other anoles, this diurnal species escapes danger by climbing a tree and positioning itself so that the trunk is between it and its would-be assailant. Stick insects, orthopterans (grasshoppers, katydids, and crickets), moths, beetles, smaller lizards, tiny eggs, and the occasional fruit are probably the most common foods consumed by V. macraei, however no research have yet been published on this topic.
