Oustalet’s Chameleon for Sale
The Malagasy giant chameleon, also known as Oustalet’s chameleon (Furcifer oustaleti), is a huge chameleon species native to Madagascar. Nevertheless, a population of these reptiles has been successfully transferred to the area around Nairobi, Kenya (though its current status there is unclear). It thrives in a variety of ecosystems, from degraded vegetation inside communities to the interiors of main forests.
Oustalet’s Chameleon For Sale Appearance
While F. oustaleti has the highest maximum overall length (including tail) of any chameleon species at 68.5 cm (27 in), this distinction is often disputed by the Parsons chameleon Calumma parsonii, which is typically more robustly built but somewhat shorter in length. The head is crowned with a tall casque and several crests, while the back is ridged with 45 or more tiny triangular spines. Males tend to be more subdued in coloration than females, however both sexes can have a wide range of shades of grey and brown. Along each side is what seems to be a row of four enormous circles or a line of huge scales.
Oustalet’s Chameleon For Sale Diet and Nutrition
F. oustaleti eats a variety of animals, both invertebrate and vertebrate, including large insects, small birds, and reptiles. The chameleon is one of numerous species that eats fruit. F. oustaleti has been observed eating Grangeria porosa, Chassalia princei, and Malleastrum gracile fruit on a regular basis, and this behavior persists even throughout the rainy season, indicating that the fruit is ingested for reasons other than hydration.
Several species have been observed to use their long, muscular tongue to catch food while seizing fruit with their jaws. But, in one peculiar occurrence, members of this species have been seen carrying fruit-bearing twigs to their mouths by grabbing them with their zygodactyl paws. Only the Chamaeleo namaquensis and a few species of monitor lizards have been observed using their forelimbs to manipulate food to this degree. It is known that the latter also consumes plant matter.
