A lovely bright blue cross expressing both violet and sapphire. There are two names used in association with it; one is Viophire the other is Blue Diamond. As of 2014 there are two lines of Blue Diamonds in the United States. One line is from Denmark and the other originated from Ronda’s Chinchillas. The Denmark lines tend to be mixed with German violet called a ‘Triple Diamond’ and are often much darker in coloration. The U.S. lines are a mich brighter silvery color and are only Sullivan Violet and Sapphire. Some babies are born very brightly colored but usually darken with age.
We have babies from both lines of Blue Diamond chinchillas for sale as well as violet, sapphire, and standard carriers. You are welcome to contact us at sales@exoticpetsreptilesforsale.com to see if we have anything available.
Blue Diamond or Viophire Chinchillas For Sale
The Blue Diamond is an expression of two recessive genes in their homozygous forms at the same time, the Violet and the Sapphire, and not a unique mutation on its own.
It was a color highly sought after as Sapphires were difficult to maintain due to their naturally weak constitution.
It was a rare color now made more accessible.
A Blue Diamond chinchilla expresses a beautiful blue hue and a crisp clear white belly.
The depth of its hue is dependent on the depth of Violet and Sapphire from its Sire and Dam.

Brown Velvets are Hetero Beiges with the ToV gene. They are sometimes born with veiling which may take up to 2 years to develop. Babies are most often born with darker brown points and paw stripes, but over the years I have seen a few cases of them not following the rules. Bellies and the underside of the jaw should be pure white and there should be no break in the veil from nose to tail. Brown velvet chinchillas in general are one of the more uncommon colors to see and a nice one is a rare sight indeed. Not many people breed for them.Chinchilla
