Helmeted Chameleon for Sale
This species is intermediate in size, and it does best with a daily misting system and lower temperatures. One of its popular names is “von Höhnel’s chameleon,” which is derived from the scientific name hoehnelii, which is named after the Austrian adventurer Ludwig von Höhnel.
Temperature Level
Tank Temperatures:
This chameleon prefers a basking temperature of 80 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit and an ambient temperature of 70 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Heat Lighting:
A 60-75 watt bulb should be adequate for heating a medium-sized screen enclosure. For bigger and glass cases, you’ll want to modify the lamp’s dimensions. In order to keep the temperature and humidity at just the right levels, digital thermometers and hygrometers are strongly suggested.
UVB Lighting:
A 13-watt, 5.0-UVB bulb will provide the necessary UVB exposure for these guys.
Humidity Levels
Humidity levels between 60% and 70% are ideal for these chameleons. The enclosure and substrate can be sprayed twice daily to maintain this condition.
Diet/ Feeding
Food:
These lizards need a regular diet of protein- and fat-rich insects including crickets, mealworms, wax worms, and roaches.
Supplement:
They should be given calcium and vitamin D3 with every meal, and a multivitamin with at least two of their meals every week. We advise taking a multivitamin with vitamin A.
Habitat Needs
Enclosure Size:
They’ll thrive in a moderately sized screen enclosure. Choose anything that has a little more vertical space for them to climb, if possible.
Substrate (bedding):
Their substrate might be anything from a reptile’s bark to coconut fiber. Sphagnum moss can be used to maintain a consistent moisture content.
Accessories:
The mister or dripper, plants, branches, and perches are all necessities for these beautiful creatures. A chameleon’s ability to blend in with its environment is essential.
