Asian Box Turtles, also called Malayan Box Turtles, used to be very common in Indonesia and South East Asia. Their numbers in the wild have dropped a lot because people in China want to eat them. Asian Box Turtles are the most aquatic of all the box turtles. They do well in environments with both land and water. Most of the time, babies are in the water, but they often go on land. They do well on a diet of everything.

This species does well in community tanks with animals that like both land and water. Adults are often available, but juveniles that were born in captivity and are much tougher are harder to find.
