Elongated Tortoise For Sale
Here’s the perfect tortoise to keep with your Red-Footed and Yellow-Footed Tortoises. They live in the same tropical areas, eat the same foods, like the same temperatures and high humidity, stay the same size, get along with everyone, and look very different and handsome.
Elongated Tortoises live in tropical forests high in the hills and plateaus of northeastern India, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, and Malaysia, south to Malaysia. Even though Elongated Tortoises live in the mountains, it is said that they can handle temperatures that are very high. Still, they don’t like to bask much.
Indotestudo elongata, which means “Indian Elongated Tortoise,” is most active in the mornings and evenings. This is when it hunts for its food, which includes fallen fruits, flowers, dark leafy greens, and the occasional earth worm or slug for protein. We add a calcium supplement with vitamin D3 to all of their food, even pelleted tortoise diet.
The color of an Elongated Tortoise’s head can range from pale yellow to almost white. During the breeding season, the adults’ skin around their eyes and nose turns pink. This is how they got the name “red-nosed tortoise” from the people who live near them.
Even though they are hard to find in the US, Elongated Tortoises are the most common kind of tortoise in Chinese food markets. This is a very big problem for their wild populations. Our young tortoises are the second or third generation of tortoises that have been raised in captivity. We chose their colors and got them started early.
