Hermans Tortoise For Sale
Hermann’s Tortoises (Testudo Hermanni) are found in Southern Europe, Spain, Turkey, the Balkans, and Bulgaria. They live in forests, on rocky hillsides, and in meadows. The Mediterranean Sea is home to a large number of islands where Hermanns Tortoises can be found. They prefer dense vegetation but not wet areas.
One of the smaller tortoises, most adults grow to be between 5 and 7 inches long after many years. Hermanns Tortoises are mostly herbivores, which means they eat grasses, vegetables, and dark leafy greens. Clover, beans, and squash are some of their favorite foods. They will also eat some insects, earthworms, and slugs. We give our tortoise food mixed with vegetables and a good calcium supplement. A good UVB basking bulb and a basking spot that is 90 to 95F are required indoors. Our young fish are soaked for 10 minutes in warm, shallow water three times per week.
Hermann’s Tortoises are very amiable little tortoises, with mild manners in comparison to other species. They learn to come to their keepers when it’s time to eat, and they get along well with other species of tortoise.
